MIAMI – A man with multiple passports was arrested Monday after he bolted from security screeners at Miami International Airport, jumped from a second floor concourse and broke his arm and ribs, authorities said. Transportation and Security Administration officials became suspicious of Faid Beydoun as he stood in a security line, waiting to board a Los Angeles-bound flight. When Beydoun's travel documents also raised concerns, agents asked him to step out of line for a secondary screening.
Beydoun, who was carrying multiple passports, then ran from security screeners, jumped 25 feet off the second floor concourse and broke his arm and ribs, The Miami Herald reported. Charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence, according to a statement. They did not identify him, but Miami-Dade County Corrections Department spokeswoman Janelle Hall said Beydoun was arrested for the same charges Monday, as well as loitering and prowling. Beydoun, 42, was being held in the hospital ward of the Miami-Dade jail at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Hall said. Beydoun did not have an attorney listed. Two other men, also headed to Los Angeles, were taken off a later flight that was still on the tarmac. They told investigators they paid for Beydoun's plane ticket and that he was their Miami Beach party guide. No weapons or dangerous material were found with them. signonsandiego.co

4/14/08 A suspicious item in checked luggage that prompted the evacuation of a terminal at Long Beach Airport on Thursday turned out to be an electronic game, authorities said. Several hundred people were evacuated from the terminal for about 90 minutes and five arriving aircraft were held on the tarmac until the all-clear was given.
"It is basically a handheld game board that a passenger packed," she told Fox News Channel. The item turned out to be a handheld electronic game board in a "raw form" that showed its wiring, she said. "It certainly was nothing but it certainly looked like something. It had all the wires and components that you would see in an explosive device," Peppin said. The passenger worked for "some sort of game or toy company," she added. usatoday

Firefighters, police and a bomb squad were called to the airport, about 25 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.
5 April Men with 'highly sensitive' cameras arrested at airport Two men attempting to board a plane to China with nearly a dozen sensitive infrared cameras in their luggage were arrested on Saturday, a federal official said. The men were preparing to board a flight to Beijing at the Los Angeles International Airport.Federal agents stopped the pair on the jetway as they were preparing to board the flight to Beijing. The men had been in the United States for about a week, said Rick Weir, assistant special agent in charge of the Los Angeles office of the Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security.
Yong Guo Zhi, a Chinese national, and Tah Wei Chao, a naturalized U.S. citizen, were arrested for investigation of trying to take thermal imaging cameras with potential military use to China without the proper export licenses, Weir said. Julie Salcido, a supervising agent with the Bureau of Industry and Security, said one of the men purchased the cameras, assuring the seller repeatedly that they were only for domestic use."He repeatedly said he wouldn't export," she said.Ten of the cameras, which measure about 2 inches square and cost about $5,000 each, were found in the men's checked luggage, Weir said. Salcido said it appeared they split the shipment up between them. The cameras have both commercial and military uses but they are "very expensive, highly sensitive," Weir said. "They're not something you could buy off the shelf." The men were taken to the downtown Metropolitan Detention Center and could not immediately be reached for comment.  per CNN

04/03/2008 NEW WINDSOR - Stewart International Airport's passenger terminal was evacuated for an hour Tuesday after a man attempted to board a plane with a stolen inflatable life vest that was mistaken for a bomb, according to state police.  Justin F. Braun, 26, of 2279 N. High St., Columbus, Ohio, was charged with the misdemeanors of criminal nuisance and possession of stolen property.
Braun was prevented from boarding his Skybus Airlines flight to Columbus, Ohio, by Transportation Security Administration screeners at 10:30 p.m. after they discovered the vest in his carry-on luggage. Screeners considered the vest to be a suspicious package because the vest's interior contains metal cartridges, wiring and batteries that resemble bomb components. The passenger terminal was evacuated until the package could be removed and examined by the state police Bomb Disposal Unit.
The police investigation, conducted by state police in conjunction with the FBI, TSA and Port Authority management, revealed that Braun had stolen the life vest on his flight into Stewart Airport last week, police said.
Braun was arraigned before New Windsor Town Justice Richard Thorpe and sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $3,000 bail. Braun is scheduled to return to court in May.
