THE chances of further Tiger Airways flights being cancelled could be reduced with 20 new cabin crew set to start at the end of the week.

Another trainee group will graduate in the coming weeks as the budget airline steps up staff numbers as it prepares to import a fifth aircraft to Australia.

Tiger Airways yesterday confirmed it was looking to train more people with aviation skills in a bid to lift the number of people working in the industry.

Corporate Affairs manager Matt Hobbs said the company would cast the net far and wide in its search for quality staff.

Tiger Airways Australia was seeking a second base in Australia.
"The 2008 bottom line financially will rely very strongly on the direction taken by the economy - much of which will be driven from the US," it said.
"The next few weeks will provide a much cleared picture of this direction. Meanwhile, airline managements are growing increasingly nervous."


Strong passenger growth and financials, its image also took a beating due to a series of flight cancellations.  200 passengers stranded at Perth International Airport.  Cancel flights between Mackay and Melbourne, citing "technical difficulties.  About 130 affected passengers were offered refunds or seats on later flights this week.
